GUTTED!

Hi guys. Just a quick update on the last post - there was no gig tonight after all. Due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. Robbie (and possibly others) getting food poisoning), Take That had to cancel the gig. They can't reschedule either but tickets are refundable from 25th July.

It's a shame we only found out about five minutes before the gates were due to open but it can't be helped. We're still gutted but, still, we're at home and getting drunk, so at least that's something!

Now, where's the vodka?!

EXCITEMENT!

We're seeing the Pet Shop Boys and Take That at the Parken tonight (there'll be three of us going - Owen's sister's coming with us since it's her main birthday present from us), both of whom have been favourite bands of ours for a few years now, so we'll post a review of the show here at some point tomorrow (we'll be a bit tired tonight when we get back from the concert)!

WE ARE STILL THE CHAMPIONS!

So, yesterday was the final day of the Danish Superligaen season. And what a season it's been for us!

We reached the last sixteen of the Champions League, which is something no other Danish team before us had managed to do, hadn't lost any matches at all in the first half of the season and lost two in the second half of the season, giving us a record-breaking 82 points and our third Championship in a row, which meant that five of the players (including the retiring Jesper Grønkjær) and our best manager ever, Ståle Solbakken, can all leave happy, knowing that we had our best season EVER!

WE'RE BACK!

Apologies for not being online for the past week but, due to circumstances beyond our control, one of us has been holed up in the local hospital (namely the one he works in) since Sunday (a few hours after we got back from Düsseldorf) so the other one decided to put our wonderful little blog onto a temporary hiatus until we were both back online!

We have a winner!

We, The Mortensen Boys, are back in Copenhagen from a truly AMAZING week in Düsseldorf and would like to congraulate Azerbaijan on their win last night (see above for the winning song)! And how well did Italy and Sweden do last night?!

What's more is that our entry finished fifth, so it's not all bad!

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!

It's the grand final of Europe's biggest TV show tonight, the Eurovision Song Contest! Ooh, excitement!

So, people of Europe, VOTE FOR DENMARK! We'd quite like it to be held in Copenhagen next year please but we don't mind if the United Kingdom or Sweden win - JUST DON'T LET FRANCE OR IRELAND COME FIRST!

WHAT?! NO NORWAY?!

We're still reeling from the shock that poor Stella Mwangi didn't make it through to the final last night whereas the tuneless shout-a-thons that were Loukas Yiorkas and Stereo Mike from Greece and Eldrine from Georgia did!

CONTROVERSY!

We don't see Eric Saade getting through the semis either to be honest (most of the gimmicky songs were sent home last night - all except Russia) so we hope A Friend In London and 3JS do to spare Europe's blushes (if Switzerland can do it, The Netherlands can)!

COME ON EUROPE, DO YOUR DUTY! Oh, and whilst you're at it, PLEASE keep Jedward out of the final as well!

ONE DAY TO GO!

It's the first semi-final tomorrow night and we can hardly contain our excitement! We have no idea who'll go through to the final and who'll be straight back to the airport but we're hoping for a Scandinavian clean-sweep (sort of - we don't like the Icelandic entry so we're not counting them)! Denmark and Sweden are in the second semi-final on Thursday night so we'll make another post then about that!

STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS!

Thanks to Matti Lund and the rest of the team at FC Nordsjælland for beating Odense BK in today's earlier match, we became champions of the Superligaen even before the ball had been kicked in Lyngby!

Never before have champions been crowned in April but, due to us being miles ahead of everyone else in the league by a whopping 26 points, it was inevitable really, haha!

Vad själva fan, Eric?!

The officiel video for Popular is here and I am not so sure about it to be so honest!

What in the hell goes on in the video?! I might see Eric's cute littel face but I still not like it so much! It is still a good song though and he has some nice dance moves also which could prove popular (excuse the pun) in the semis if he can manage to pull off the glass box gimmick thing from Melodifestivalen and not look so terrified when the glass smashes to the floor!

If only it was May already!

This was done using the official Eurovision Song Contest final score simulator thing and I used my own choices and put neighbour/diaspora voting on, then I did another one (not using tactical voting this time) which ended up with Ireland winning! Mind you, Owen's came out with us in second place and Sweden as the overall winners, haha!

We'd rather stay in Copenhagen if you don't mind!

PS: We're not sure how Lena Meyer-Landrut would take the 'nul points' if it WAS the real thing, mind you, since it's in Germany this year...

One month to go!

It's exactly one month until we officially jet off to Düsseldorf for the greatest show on Earth - the Eurovision Song Contest - and we can't WAIT!

Oh, and judging by all the stage preparations, it's going to be FABULOUS!

OO-ER!

This year's Eurovision Song Contest entrants from the United Kingdom, those cheeky boys from Blue, have literally got it all off in this month's Attitude magazine. And we mean LITERALLY (see below).

Antony must have felt the cold that day (he's the only one of the four not stripped to the bare minimum). Poor love.

PS: Exactly WHAT Simon is pointing at is anyone's guess though, judging by the position of his finger, it's either at that pink arrowy-type thing at the bottom of the picture or his, erm, gentleman's sausage.

We'll leave that entirely to your filthy imaginations...

Scarves?! FABULOUS!

We, the Mortensen boys, are proud to say that we LOVE the official Eurovision scarves! There's basically one for every country so, obviously, we'll be taking the following one with us to Düsseldorf to cheer on A Friend In London who, semi-final results permitting, will be representing our wonderful country in the final:

Borefest!

We've just finished watching the Oldham Athletic v Tranmere Rovers match online and we drew 0-0 after what was a pretty dire and boring match! There were some good points and some bad points (our captain got shown the yellow card and is now banned for the matches against Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday - IDIOT!) but hardly anything stood out for us (except maybe Dale Jennings' boots - what WERE those bright orange boots all about)?!

Boys, sort it out, or we'll be faced with yet another relegation battle (which, of course, the Sky Sports commentators just HAD to mention - KNOBS)!

A few hours ago, I noticed that Owen had very sneakily posted a photo of my asleep in bed onto our Twitter account so I decided to get him back by posting one of him looking more than three sheets to the wind in revenge for it and, so far, I'm winning the war!

But who's better? Anthony or Owen? There's only one way to find out...

OWEN'S EUROVISION REVIEW PART TWO

Here is the second part to my Eurovision song review. I hope that you will like it.

Italy: I am so glad that Italy are back at Eurovision but if they think that their comeback will start with a win then they are wrong! Sorry Italy but your song is a bit crap!

Latvia: I think that this song is a big improvement to the one that they gave us last year but I am not so sure that it will get into the final.

Lithuania: I not think that we will see Lithuania in the final this year because the song is about as dull as dishwater! Sorry Lithuania!

Malta: I actuel like this one but I am not so sure that we will see Malta in the final. Their singer is quite cute though.

Moldova: I think that this one is a bit too shouty also! BRING BACK THE GROIN THRUSTING MAN WITH THE SAX! See you in the semis Moldova!

Netherlands: I think that this song is one of my faverites this year but I am not so sure if I prefer it to be in English or Dutch. I hope that we will see the Netherlands in the final this year since one of our friends who likes anything Dutch will be in Düsseldorf with us and she will be so upset if they not make it this year so I real hope that Europe will do the right thing and send them into the final!

Norway: I liked this one from the start also so I hope that Norway will do so well also since Stella Mwangi tweeted to us a few weeks ago (see Anthony's review for the link)! GO NORWAY (though not in the football tonight since you play us)!

Poland: I would have probabel liked this if they had left it to be in Polish because I not like the English versen of the song! Sorry Poland!

Portugal: I not speak Portuguese but I think that they menten politicel issues in the song so it should not even be allowed in the Eurovision! The song is more than a bit crap also so I real hope that it not goes to the final!

Romania: I like this one also but I not think that it will qualify.

Russia: I not liked this one at first but I do now and I think that the song is a big improvement to the one from last year (I allmost fell asleep to it at the final)!

San Marino: I am not so keen with this one. I know that Anthony likes it but I am not so sure with it. It might get to the final but it will not win.

Serbia: I would like my Serbien kangaroo back please all though I do like this song!

Slovakia: I am not so keen with this song also but at least this set of twins can sing unless like another two who are in this year's Eurovision with them!

Slovenia: I not like this one. See you in the semis Slovenia!

Spain: I think that this one is a grower and I kind-of like it though I am not so sure why. It will not win though.

Sweden: I LOVE THIS ONE! It is my faverite song of this year and I will actuel support Sweden at Eurovision for the first time in a long time! KOM IGEN ERIC!

Switzerland: I think that I liked last year's song better but it is still a good song. I not so sure if it will go into the final though.

Turkey: I said before that I was not into rock so much so I not like this one so much also. I liked Manga from last year but not this song. Sorry Turkey!

Ukraine: I think that this song is just so boring! See you in the semis Ukraine!

United Kingdom: I LOVE THIS ONE TOO! The boys are just so cute also and this is probabel one of my top three songs this year!

That is my review complete so I hope that you will like it and agree with me! Now to go and do some housework before Anthony gets home from work so that we can settel down for the football tonight so I real hope that we will win!

OWEN'S EUROVISION REVIEW PART ONE

It is now my turn to do my Eurovision songs review so here it is. I will do it the way that Anthony did it also so I real hope that you will like it.

Albania: I like to try to see how artists will copy their act and gimmicks from their videos onto the stage at Eurovision but I think that this one will be difficult since the artist changes into an eagel in the middel of her song in the video! See you in the semis Albania!

Armenia: I like this song but I not think that it will win. It might get into the final but it will not be a winner. Sorry.

Austria: I think that the song is a bit boring if I am so honest and we had so many slow songs last year (as Anthony said in his blog post for this). It might get into the final but I not think that it is a winner for me.

Azerbaijan: I agree with Anthony again for this one. If they can pull off to sing live in the final then it might do well in the final.

Belarus: I like this one but I am not so sure about the traditenel dancing. Sorry Belarus. See you in the semis.

Belgium: I not like this one. Sorry. See you in the semis Belgium!

Bosnia-Herzegovina: I am not so sure about the titel of the song or the song itself. It might still go through into the final though.

Bulgaria: I not abel to understand a word of this (she will sing in Bulgarian) but I actuel like it. I still want Miro back though.

Croatia: I think that the singer tries too much to be Eurovision legend Céline Dion but I still like it. There are dubbel hand claps for the song to be extra cool also so I real hope that it will go into the final.

Cyprus: I not like this one so much but at least the singer is cute! See you in the semis Cyprus!

Denmark: I not liked our song so much at first (I wanted Le Freak to win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix) but it grew on me and now I LOVE it and I want us to do well again this year! I not think that the Eurovision Song Contest will come back to Copenhagen next year though but I still hope that we will do well again!

Estonia: I like the song but I am not so sure about the singer's dress and stage set! SOMEONE CALL THE FASHION POLICE!

Finland: I like this one even though it reminds me so much of Tom Dice from last year. It might get into the final but it will not win.

France: I think that the singer is a bit cute but I am not so sure about the choice of song. France are one of the faverites to win this year but I not think that it will go to Paris next year to be so honest.

FYR Macedonia: I not like rock songs so much so I not like this one. Sorry.

Georgia: I not like this one also. It is a bit too shouty for me.

Germany: I like this one but I not think that Germany will host the Eurovision again next year.

Greece: I prefer the This Is Our Night-style songs from Greece rather than the crap they give us this year! Sorry Greece but you will not win with this song!

Hungary: I LOVE THIS ONE! It is not one of my faverites though but I still like it!

Iceland: I think that Iceland took the sympithy vote this year and I not like this one so much. They should have probabel sent Yohanna back to Eurovision to stand any chance to win and it is my worst song from Scandinavia and the Nordics. Sorry Iceland!

Ireland: I will not even talk about this one! What did Ireland think of?!

Israel: I am so glad that Dana is back at Eurovision for Israel but I not like the song they gave her to sing! Sorry Dana but you will not win with that song! See you in the semis!

A tribute for a friend.

A good friend of ours lost her husband four years ago so this is for her. The photo above was taken by the lovely Lesley and she has let me repost her photo here also.

I am sure that he knows that there are still so many peopel who still love him and miss him so much. He will never be forgotten.

ANTHONY'S ESC REVIEW - PART TWO

Here's part two of my fabulous Eurovision song review. Hope you like it!

Italy (Raphael Gualazzi - Madness Of Love): WELCOME BACK ITALY! Whilst it's nice to have you back, you're not going to win with your choice of song! You should have sent Nathalie to stand ANY chance of reaching the top five! At least your singer's quite cute, though, so that's a bonus!

Latvia (Musiqq - Angel In Disguise): A big improvement on last year's rubbish (what was with that girl in the dressing gown anyway?)! Not sure it'll qualify though.

Lithuania (Evelina Sašenko - C'est Ma Vie): No chance of qualification for this one. Too bland and boring. Sorry, Lithuania!

Malta (Glen Vella - One Life): Sorry Glen but, as much as I adore you, participating in the Eurovision Song Contest is NOT an excuse for you to come out! And what's with the video (sponsored by Mediterranean Bank)? See you in the semis!

Moldova (Zdob şi Zdub - So Lucky): BRING BACK THE SAX! That's all I have to say!

Netherlands (3JS - Never Alone): Still can't decide whether I'd have preferred this in Dutch or English but, either way, it's still a decent song and I hope the Netherlands can qualify after seven years of not being in the final!

Norway (Stella Mwangi - Haba Haba): I'm loving this one and I adore the singer even more after she replied to a tweet we sent to her last week (the top one's ours obviously)! GO NORWAY!

Poland (Magdalena Tul - One Way Ticket To Heaven): This one should have been left in Polish. Sorry.

Portugal (Homens da Luta - A Luta É Alegria): Imagine all the crap X-Factor auditionees in the world singing together. Now imagine them singing for Portugal. You get the idea.

Romania (Hotel FM - Change): I actually rather like this one but I don't see it qualifying to be honest.

Russia (Alex Sparrow - Get You): Weirdly, I rather like the Russian entry, and it's a MASSIVE improvement on last year's bore-fest! OK, so the singer can't sing in plain English, but who cares?!

San Marino (Senit - Stand By): Another one I love. It might qualify but it won't win.

Serbia (Nina - Čaroban): I like this one as well but the singer's no Milan Stankovic. Same hair colour though.

Slovakia (TWiiNS - Still Alive): Slovakia had supposedly dropped out before the pre-selection shows began (presumably, that's where the title of this song came from) but they came back. Sadly, I'm not keen on the song, but it's still better than that other set of twins that should NOT be named!

Slovenia (Maja Keuc - Vanilija): I'm not so keen on this one and I don't think it'll qualify. There's more weird dancing in the background too (can't find the video though).

Spain (Lucía Pérez - Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao): Sorry, Spain, but your song is rather MIERDA! Oh, and please leave Jimmy Jump at home this year!

Sweden (Eric Saade - Popular): I LOVE THIS ONE! He's not bad looking either and, for the first time in a long time, Owen and I are supporting Sweden at Eurovision! GO SWEDEN!

Switzerland (Anna Rossinelli - In Love For A While): This reminds me of a song advertising an Amazon Kindle (or something like that) to be honest. Cute bassist though.

Turkey (Yüksek Sadakat - Live It Up): Can we have Manga back please? I'm not so keen on this one.

Ukraine (Mika Newton - Angel): Another snore-bore from the Ukraine. They should have sent Jamala to stand any chance of going far. It might qualify if the jury like it.

United Kingdom (Blue - I Can): WELCOME BACK BLUE! I've always liked Blue and they know their roles for the finals night! Can they take victory back to the UK? Only time will tell...

ANTHONY'S ESC REVIEW - PART ONE

Hiya, Anthony again. We'll both do our own personal reviews of the Eurovision songs now, in honour of the fabulous Julie from Julie's Euro Blog, so here's mine (going from Albania to the United Kingdom in alphabetical order). Owen will do the same in a later blog post. Enjoy!

Albania (Aurela Gaçe - Feel The Passion): Ever wondered what it would be like for one person to randomly change into an eagle mid-song? Well, wonder no more. And what's with the rubbish lyrics? See you in the semis, Albania!

Armenia (Emmy - Boom Boom): Now, weirdly, I rather like this one. It might qualify but it's not a winner for me. Sorry, Armenia.

Austria (Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love): Bit boring if you ask me. I prefer Eurovision songs to be more upbeat and, besides, we had enough ballady-type songs last year. I don't see it qualifying either.

Azerbaijan (Ell & Nikki - Running Scared): Again, a bit bland, and I don't see it doing as well as Safura last year. If the duo get it right on semi-final one night, they might qualify, but I don't see it as a potential winner. Sorry, Azerbaijan, but it's not for me!

Belarus (Anastasia Vinnikova - I Love Belarus): THAT'S MORE LIKE IT! Not sure about the traditional dancing in the background, however. Please sort it out, Belarus, or we won't be seeing you in the final!

Belgium (Witloof Bay - With Love Baby): No instruments required?! NEXT!

Bosnia-Herzegovina (Dino Merlin - Love In Rewind): Not sure about the title of the song or the song itself. It's not the worst song this year, however...

Bulgaria (Poli Genova - Na Inat): One of only (I think) two songs being sung in the native language this year but I'm not entirely sure it'll even get past the semis if I'm honest. Can we have Miro back please?

Croatia (Daria Kinzer - Celebrate): Originally titled Break A Leg (not entirely sure why), this one's a grower. Double hand-claps for the extra coolness of the song. Hope it qualifies.

Cyprus (Christos Mylordou - San Aggelos S'agapisa): Not sure about this one. I preferred last year's entry (which, incidentally, was sung by a Welshie). Sorry, Cyprus.

Denmark (A Friend In London - New Tomorrow): OUR ENTRY! Neither Owen nor myself liked this one at first when we saw AFIL perform live at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix but, after a few listens, we decided we LOVED it! I hope we do well (Copenhagen 2012, anyone?).

Estonia (Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street): A set that looks like it came straight from Blue Peter and a dress made from kitchen cloths? I think not. Nice song though.

Finland (Paradise Oskar - Da Da Dam): Another grower. Not entirely sure what the video's about though...

France (Amaury Vasilli - Sognu): BORING! At least the singer's good-looking though...

FYR Macedonia (Vlatko Ilievski - Rusinka): I don't like the song but there's some sort of weird dancing going on. Check it out. Go on, I dare you...

Georgia (Eldrine - One More Day): I don't like this song. It's too shouty if you ask me. See you in the semis, Georgia.

Germany (Lena - Taken By A Stranger): The hosts decided to send their winner back this year and this song isn't quite Satellite but it's still a decent song. I don't think Germany will be hosting Eurovision again next year however.

Greece (Loukas Yiorkas feat. Stereo Mike - Watch My Dance): Oi, Greece, Europe called - we want our Opa back! See you in the semis!

Hungary (Kati Wolf - What About My Dreams?): One of my personal favourites this year. If she manages to pull it off in the semis, it could be a potential winner.

Iceland (Sjónni's Friends - Coming Home): Sorry, Iceland, but this is probably the worst entry from the Scandinavian/Nordic countries this year. They got the sympathy vote when the original singer of this song tragically died. Can we have Hera Björk back please? At least she was FABULOUS!

Ireland (Jedward - Lipstick): Not even going to comment on this one! URGH!

Israel (Dana International - Ding Dong): YAY! Dana International's back! But, wait a minute, what's with the song?! She's not our 'diva' (see what I did there?) this year! Sorry, Israel, but Ms. International ain't bringing glory back to Jerusalem with THAT song!
